Yesterday night marked Apple’s first event of the year 2021. It kick-started with Apple proudly portraying their video-making skills. Starting the event with super-smooth transitions, Apple is miles ahead of any competitor at least in making events look beautiful.
Another product where Apple is leading by huge margins is the iPad Pro. I mean no one is even close to iPad when it comes to tablets. I have been a user of the iPad personally for almost 3 years now and I think it is the most complete device ever made by Apple.
Adding to the already wonderful and powerful iPad series apple announced M1 chips inside the iPad Pro’s. With a very meme-worthy, action-packed introduction clip starring Tim cook, it was a little surprising for me to see M1 on an iPad. So basically the 5th Gen iPad Pro can do everything that my MacBook Air can do, that too with a touch screen. All we need is MacOS on iPad and voila! We have touched on Mac.
The new iPad will be a powerful tool if Apple plays its cards right on 7th June. It’s world WWDC conference, Apple can make the new iPad very very powerful too with iPadOS 15. The only bottleneck the new iPad’s have is the operating system. I am writing this article on the iPad but I will any day choose a Mac over an iPad because of the ease of work for almost all the things. Availability of lots of apps like a final cut pro, logic pro x on iPad is also dragging it a little down but I have very high hopes of Apple changing that on June 7th. Else, what is the point of all that raw horsepower in the tablet if we as the user can not use it?
One more very interesting thing this year Apple added to the iPad is the Mini-Led based display. Although this is only limited to the 12.9 inch iPad. Nevertheless, it is a fascinating new leap forward in display technology. With Apple Pro Display XDR like 1000nits brightness and 1600 nits peak brightness. It is bright, I mean bright. I don’t want to think there is a lot of devices that hit that mark.
As Apple also demonstrated the new iPad has local dimming zones which can give some great contrast. The new display is named XDR which is not surprising. It is an HDR10+ certified display so welcome to the world of those deeper blacks. It also now has Dolby Atmos which will give you great entertainment.
The pre-order of the new iPad is beginning from 30th April with orders beginning mid-may.
I am waiting eagerly to use the new iPad Pro with Apple M1 chips inside and hopefully after WWDC it even replacing my main MacBook for most of my creative usage work.
