COVID19 came as a surprise to all of us and let me be very clear, in one way or another it has been a very hard time for all of us. Everyone around us has been affected by this virus in one way or the other. While some people have lost their jobs, some have lost their family members. I can not fathom the pain of people around me because of the damages caused by covid 19. It is tough times, it is a global pandemic.
We were all in our homes for most of 2020 and now it is 2021 and we are still there because of the second wave of the infection. This time the situation is even worse. We will not talk about the bad things though in this article. We will try to look at everything positive in these challenging times.
The first and most important thing that has changed from the last year is that we have a vaccine now. In almost all parts of the world, people are receiving different doses of vaccines manufactured by different companies all with one goal, to fight and end this pandemic. Today Israel declared itself covid free and the need to wear a mask in public is not required anymore. It is a ray of hope in this time that at least we have started winning this war, step by step.
In India also at the time of writing this article, 13 crores + have received the vaccine. The vaccine is not a magic wand that can end this pandemic in days, it will still take time and we will have to be vigilant and follow covid appropriate behaviour.
At the time of writing this article, Delhi is in lockdown for a week which might be increased if the number of cases keep increasing. Humans are social animals, it has been hard for us to stay at homes. At the same time, it is important to save lives, so we should stay at home no matter how frustrating it gets.
Now the important question is how to keep our sanity while being at home? We have to start looking for the smaller happiness of life.
If I talk about myself, most of my time is spent learning new skills which I was always putting on the back burner because of lack of time. Also as most of the time, I am at home now, so I can spend more time with my family. You know in the hustle-bustle of cities we somewhere lost the time to sit and just relax. Not run in any race, not chase any promotion, just sit and relax and enjoy the passing seconds. I might sound like an illogical optimistic trying to see hope in these challenging times, but trust me, we all should.
At times there are things beyond our control. We have to get used to the fact and get moving.
I hope that humanity comes out of these tough and challenging times stronger than ever before, united than ever before.
I hope we can be on the other side of this pandemic soon.
